First, let me just make this perfectly clear: DONATIONS ARE NOT EXPECTED. I seriously don't expect anyone to use this button. If you are about to use it, I have to wonder if you're feeling okay. Seriously, are you feeling okay? Why would you give your money to some stranger on the internet?

Now that my conscience is cleared a bit, a few more disclaimers. Assume any donations you give me will be blown on frivolous expenditures of a highly geeky nature. You're not feeding me, you're not making me able to devote more time to my blog, to programming, or any other projects I might start. You're not even making me more inclined to spend more time doing whatever it is you appreciate me doing. Regardless of whether I receive donations or not, I will always do things at my own self-determined pace, and may well just randomly abandon projects if the mood leaves me.

All that said, donate to me only if you've got too much money. Do you have too much money? Are you sure you wouldn't rather buy a new book or something instead? Surely you can find something else to spend your money on?

So why put up a donate button at all? Well, I figure, even with all this discouragement, there might be one person out there who really wants to give me money. And frankly, if they're just going to give me money, I'm not gonna turn it down. I'm idealistic, but not stupid. I think I've made it perfectly clear what you're getting into here.
